Deke, my friend, I just ran into this post of yours. Melting in the PA heat is putting it mildly. During a portion of it--8 or 9 hours, I forget now--we were without electricity, thus without air conditioning in rooms with no cross ventilation, 100 million on the humidity scale, and no breeze at all. Considering that so many folks would use that stretch of well-over 100 on the heat index as proof of global warming, I blame the whole thing on Al Gore. [makes about as much sense as Al Gore does, so I figure I can get away with that logic....at least with the liberals LOL]. As for the North American Indian coastal tribes not having take out--THEY DID!!! They "TAKED IT RIGHT OUT OF THE SEA!!!!!" Lobster, crab, shrimp, and all manner of non-crustaceans, every day during the summer months. I've actually done a lot of research on the "feeding" habits of coastal native Americans way back when and it turns out those folks' summer cuisine would rival if not surpass the best seafood restaurants around today. Except, of course, I don't think they had garlic or parsley, butter or olive oil, or leeks or scallions. LOLOLOL. Oh, and speaking of Global Warming....you might get a kick out of this. According to a brief article in the NEW YORK POST today [7-25-10], the worst heat wave ever in NYC occurred during 10 days in August, 1896. The POST in its usual thrown-together-at-the-last-minute style failed to say what the recorded temperatures were. But they did say that the heat index [presumably, calculated now, by our current standards, using the recorded temperatures from back then] was over 120 degrees F. for the 10 days running. Ice vendors pushed the prices up so high, the poor couldn't afford to buy; many, many of them died. Clean water was scarce; dead horses [being worked to death] were piled up in the streets. So, what I figure is, this must have been when Global Warming began!!!! Back in 1896!!!!!! Someone really ought to tell Al Gore about this so he can make the appropriate adjustments to his Nobel Prize winning reports...... Afterall, I'm sure he wouldn't want to die leaving a legacy of missing and/or incorrect FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO Pat P.S.: How's the south treating you with it's heat??????

Hello, Boo. Actually, you've got it backwards. Most North American Indian coastal tribes lived off the sea in the summer months and moved inland during the winter. But.... No matter.....get your venison where and when you can....legalities be damned....FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good to see you back. I only just figured out who "deke" was a couple of days ago..... [DUH!!!!!!!] Pat
