I was writing this morning and this feeling came to me...
yea.) it's in Spanish lol I usually get these feelings in Spanish not sure why.) it's about finally leaving a part of my past behind and the feeling you get when you feel like you can finally breathe again... The feeling of freedom<3 Sometimes it's good to write what you're feeling. I do this all the time... Sometimes on my journal or on this writing iPhone application or on the PC notebook. Do you write your feelings? If not... Go do it! ;) it's good for you. I usually write 100-750 words everyday but the # doesn't really matter, what's important is letting go of what's inside.

Me despierto esperando encontrar el echo de tu voz en medio del silencio

Escucho el vacío y miro por primera ves que me encuentro sola sin tu reflejo

Por fin te has marchado lejos... lejos de mi cuerpo, lejos del tiempo, lejos del silencio

Ya estas mas lejos de mi alma y por primera ves en mucho tiempo puedo respirar...

Puedo sentir lo que es vivir en este momento

Me doy cuenta de que estaba viva pero no estaba viviendo

No sentía, no miraba, no vivía

Hoy no me da miedo empezar de nuevo, hoy es un nuevo día

He vuelto a nacer, hoy comienza una nueva vida

Soy LIBRE de tu recuerdo...

Yup.  Translating Spanish into English can be very tricky.  This much I know--evem if I don't know Spanish.  Literal translation often lose the "poetry," the beauty of the words.  It takes a great deal of skill to translate the ENTIRE meaning from one language to another.  Whether it's Spanish to English, German to English, French to English.

The TONE of the text must get translated.....The flavor, the color, the spirit.  THAT is the hard part.  Spanish is so.....lyrical....so musical.....translating it into English and capturing all the nuances------that's probably more difficult than translating German to English.  And we all know---all of us even if we dont' know more than 3 words in German---that translating German into English, with all the nuances, is a trial indeed.....

@Pat Exactly what you said.)
Translating feelings, poetry, songs and even stories from one language to another can be difficult and I've often noticed songs that were translated from Spanish to English change completely.. and the song just doesn't sound or feel the same.. The meaning of some words always change.

@Bill: Thankyou<3

It's true, many feelings are almost impossible to translate. The meaning always changes in a way because each language is unique and expresses love in different ways.

Reading Spanish is easy. Understanding what I am reading is my problem. I had the Jaimster's mother translate for me. It is a beautiful poem. Her translation is not exactly word for word; albeit very close to; the same as Gia's translation which leads me to agree with you, Pat, that some things do get lost in translation.

LOVEHIPPIE:  Very fine sentiment.  I have a hunch, however---if you don't mind my saying so--that it "sounds" a lot sweeter in Spanish.  No, I don't know Spanish, but I do know that when "romantic" Spanish is translated into English by a "genius" translator, it always comes up in the simplest of English words with no pretense at all--and is incredibly moving.

I'm not sure the above conveys what I mean it to convey: Re-reading my words, they sound critical.  I don't mean that at all!!!!!  This is a most delicious and rich poem.  And I hope you can find a venue to publish it in.

I especially like that first line:  "  I wake up.. Hoping to find the echo of your voice in the middle of this silence..."

Stunning indeed, LH.  Absolutely stunning.

Thankyou, Pat.

You're right, when a Spanish writing/poem is translated into English the meaning changes.. Even when the translation is done right there's something about writing feelings in Spanish that can't be translated into English. I have a collection of Spanish poems mostly nostalgic... lost love type of poems. I hope to write more of these and publish them sometime this year, even if I just publish them as an e-book.

Most of my writings are from what I go through or what I see other friends go through. I will be sharing more writings/poems on this site.

@Pat ;) I will be posting in Spanish too... you will learn soon I promise <3

Here's the translation:

I wake up.. Hoping to find the echo of your voice in the middle of this silence...

I hear only emptiness and for the first time I see I'm alone without your reflection

You have finally gone away...

You have finally left

You are finally far away from my body, far away from time and this silence

Now I know you're far away from here...

Far away from my soul and for the first time in a long time, I can breathe

I can feel what's it's like to finally... live in this moment

Now I understand that I was alive but I wasn't living. I didn't feel. I couldn't see. I wasn't living...

Today I'm not afraid to start all over again. Today is a new day. A new life has begun

I'm born again

I'm FREE of your memory...
