I can remember giving my little girl money for those things. She soon learned it is junk. Still, little children are always captivated by those things. Now my grand daughters always want them. Hope they, like their mom, soon learn better.
I see the wanting in the little children often in the grocery store. A difference is that their moms can afford it. I live in a very affluent neighborhood.

What a great story and way to live. Good for you and the way you solved a challenge to give without seeming to give. Sounds as if you have helped those kids even more through your solution! 'Good fortunes' may be few and far between for those kids. Thank you for providing us with a way to help others that really works well. John
