O.k., o.k. I know some people can be
very dark and do some crazy, mean
things. Even right here on the MM site.

I've heard more horrific stories from things
that have happened on this site lately,
than I could have ever imagined. I mean
CRAZY stuff (and some CARAZEE people!).

Well, I've got a little different view
of things. Indulge me for a minute.

You've heard it before. At least you
may have heard it.

"Its not what happens TO you in life
that truly matters; its how YOU
RESPOND to what happens to you that
truly defines your life"

You have heard that, haven't you? Well,
if not, now you have :). And, I challenge
you to consider the truth of it (even if
you don't totally agree.)

"Why do crazy situations (and sometimes,
crazy PEOPLE) show up in your life?"

Too many people respond to crazy, mean,
deceitful, manipulative, controlling
people by allowing distrust, bitterness,
suspicion, etc., to develop inside of them.
Then, you miss out on living your dreams
and realizing the love and life you've
always wanted.

Well, I've learned to process crazy (and
even, very undesirable) situations in a
way that benefits me.

You see, its not about THEM. Its about YOU.
In my case, its about ME. Let me explain.

When crazy stuff happens in my life, I look
at myself. Michael Murphy. Rather than
allowing some kind of negative attitude
to develop in me, I look at the person and
get honest enough with myself to see if
even a hint of what they've done (or darkness
that they've exhibited) exists in ME.

By doing this with an honest and sincere,
secure and self assured heart, I get better.
I grow and mature into the person I truly do
want to be.

A few years ago, when I was standing in front
of several hundred people each week and speaking,
I used to tell my audiences, 'Folks, life is not
about 'him, her, them or they'. Its about YOU.
In MY case, its about ME. Its about me growing,
getting better, becoming the person I want to
be and becoming the kind of person I want to
attract in my life.

So, there you have. My take on things. Agree with
me or not. At least consider what I've said. It
works well for me. It keeps me happy and at peace
with myself and others.

Cheers,
Michael

I  think we can all agree that there are different levels of crazy; sometimes how we react to others could be an in the moment response (an ah ha moment). There may not be time for self-reflection until after the moment has passed!

For example, if some crazy person amid a stint of rage comes after me with a bat with the intention of harming me, I will defend myself (not that this has happened).  While the lady in me in this scenario would verbally say, “don’t hurt me,” the survivor in me would be like “this will not end well”...I may think, how did I get into this situation after I'm in a safe place.

For those who like to play mind games, that's a whole other baileywick. The minute I sense a hint of manipulation or lack of integrity, I simply remove myself from their presence. My quality of life is too valuable to leave in a crazy person's hands! I can't afford the time once I understand the negative place they are coming from. Fool me once, shame on them; fool me twice, shame on me.

Michael,

I've told myself, and others online: That guy or girl was crazy, or mean (pick one) long before I came along, and they'll be crazy or mean long after I crossed their path. I just happened to be the one who stepped into their crosshairs that day. Don't let them ruin MY day. Easier said than done sometimes.
