I've had my canvas painting waiting to be backed for ages and finally got it done. Its up on my office wall now just above the computer. My pride and joy.

its utterly charming Sarah.
I have purchased my favorite pieces from folk artists all over the world. They have such sweetness to them.
Congratulations on your find. Enjoy it !

Quoting MissMonteCarlo

Cape Town is a beautiful city with its history. It has modern and older style buildings. The waterfront is ultra modern along with the camps bay area. the older part of town is in the centre. Around the outskirts of the city are the townships. I bought this painting in the winelands from an african artist who lived in a township. I loved this painting as it was a reminder of my visit to the townships and the lovely people and children I met there.

I guess it could have a political message too. This is their Cape Town.

sarah :-)

That makes sense Sarah. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question in a very thoughtful manner. It is a cool painting...

Sarah,

Sometimes my smartassery steps in fron of my manners. I DO like your painting, for lots of reasons, and should have said so. I see many reasons it called you to buy it.

It is an interesting painting Sarah. To me it dipicts Capetown as a primitive shanty town. I thought Capetown was suppose to be a beautiful modern city. Who is the artist and when was this painted??? Is it suppose to be political in nature???

MM Blog problems continue.... The picture with my previous post was "Dogs Playing Poker" with a vibrant red stained glass lamp over a vibrant green felt poker table. For some reason MM deleted the pic???? Not as funny when you have to describe it and explain it, huh??? I'll try posting the pic again.

I, too, enjoy the use of vibrant colors in fine art. I have this one over my fireplace.
