So I continue to search for jobs realising how difficult it is. I think I've actually missed the boat. There is virtually nothing for me in England either. The start date for schools is september there. I've applied for what I can through recruitment companies. I have to register with them. So waiting to hear back from London so I can go there, then Bristol all in the one trip.

I just feel lost again. I like to have direction in my life. At least I'm a bit further forward from the last time I graduated. I now have a profession this time with no job.

I have applied for an MA program in Education at Glasgow University but its part time over 2 years. There are only 50 places and I did apply late. That is my back up plan, so at least I'd be doing something productive with my time on the side lines.

I am on the supply list here for teaching but I honestly don't know if that is going to be sccessful as I can't be living my life on hold waiting for a phone call. Unless the work is regular I'll need another job.

I keep looking at overseas jobs and see the benefits they offer. One in Italy offered a studio appartment in the town centre along with the job. You just don't get offers like that here. Its more like a compettitive fight for the worst school.

All I want right now is a job. So I can save and go on holiday. lol

Quoting MissMonteCarlo

Hey everyone,

thank you for your help and advice. I feel a bit more positive now. I had a call from the Cambridge area which looks promising and I've also applied for a job in Dubai after a friend convinced me it would be a great opportunity. I'm a bit scared of the rules over there though. I'm generally a good girl but not being allowed to hold hands in public feel quite extreme. I'll just have to be a nun for a year. Thats if I get the job.

Fingers crossed that everything works out for you Sarah!

Teaching is not the only thing you know how to do, you just need to think outside the box.. There have been thousands of teachers that quit teaching and took other jobs or even created their own. Think of what your interest are and see if there are openings in that area.

Sarah,
My mom said there is an online global teaching recruiters web site. I will see if I can track the name of it.
She also recommends you check through the UN (OCED dvision) as they have teaching programs by country.
Good luck!

Sass

You might give China a try, Sarah. I have met and know of several people who have taught over there and all really liked the experience. I can't provide any information on the programs they offer but there seems to be a big demand for Western teachers. My sister's significant other spent some time there teaching. If you would like I could put you in touch with him. Below is a photo from a school we visited...

Sarah, dear, I wish I had a job to offer you....but, not being a school principal or other influcential figure in education, I'm afraid I don't.  And the beginning of desperation in your worry is palpable here....

Having no concrete solution for you, I can only hope and pray that this seemingly "impending ciris" for your future employment will lead you down a road you never expected to go down...one you will perhaps at first find repugnant, but once you're on it, will prove most rewarding.

Wishing I had something more to offer than words.....

Pat
