if it werent for bad luck I'd hve no luck at all..

safe heart

I found her on the internet

her profile had a thousand hits

We met after chatting for weeks

she seemed to be a perfect fit

The time flew as we spoke over coffee

we seemed to get along

But later she wrote me a note

said the feelings were too strong

she said she never had her heart broken

                                       and she never would

i said she never had her heart in it

                                       and she never could

Could it be true? A man who "gets it". LOL. Good for you. Isn't it all about the love we share? Nice writings. Look forward to reading more. Tina

this is my exact plight at the moment....in reverse.
The man in question is too afraid of being hurt to open himself up to love.

And it makes me angry because i specifically said i wanted an emotionally available/ready for relationship-MAN in the profile that he answered.

Worse is that we are very compatible, enjoy the same activities and the physical side of things is very alluring.

We genuinely like one another but because of his insistence that he wants to continue to " date" i am going to have to call a halt to a relationship that could be wonderful.
I cant stand the thought of him kissing someone else the same way he kisses me.

Quoting smax117

Thank you Pat, et al...   I know its a lost cause and moved on.  Vulnerability is required to actually fall in love.  Too many walk around trying to protect themselves from being hurt again.  The thing we should have learned is that we survived the hurt..  and will survive again if hurt again.  So fearlessly open up your heart.  It heals.  And its the only way we find that real love we want.

RIGHT ON, SMAX.  RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smax, have you ever tried submitting your poetry to GLIMMER TRAIN?

Quite a poem, this one, Smax--and Willow, thinking about your comments.  Those last 4 lines especially.

Gonna try to find a publisher for this one???????????????????  It's so NOW.  So THE INTERNET.  So life as we are living it now.....  There's gotta be a place to put it that would garner you, Smax, at least $25.
[shit pay I know for such heartfelt words.....but, realistically, what else does poetry garner these days money wise???????]

Those last 4 lines say it all, Smax.  If she can't accept being vulnerable enough to fall in love.....nothing you can do--other than desperation moves that would get yourself heart-hurt awfully

Let her go, friend.  Move on.  Sad and sorry as it may be....sad and sorry for her most definitely.  For you......should not be sad and sorry at all.  Sadness that she couldn't be what you want and need....but you can move forward...  Do so with wisdom and good cheer....   As Tink says most succinctly:  "then she's not the right one."

The last stanza is oh so true .... To have a broken heart one must allow it to be vunerable.  Those who never open it won't get hurt, or so they think.  Many take the stance of approaching a possibility with their heart clamped in a vice grip; cool investigation, remote, calculating possibilities with the eyes and mind, then, possibly, once that is satisfied, see if the other person has an open heart before you show yours.   It's sometimes, unfortunately, too late.  First impressions are strong.  If the other feels the remoteness in you, perhaps they are deciding to move on before your mind has decided to go further?
